Youth
Dance England
13 of Northern Ballet
Theatre’s Intermediate and Senior Associates are to
take part in the Youth Dance England Regional Platform on
Saturday 18 March 2006 at Northern School of Contemporary
Dance (NSCD).
The Associates have been short listed
from 25 applicants down to 8 successful groups. This is the
2nd year NBT have been chosen to perform in the Regional Platform,
and last year were chosen to go through into the National
final.
The day begins with the groups taking part in workshops, enabling
them to experience different forms of dance. Technical rehearsals
will take place in the afternoon, followed by an evening performance
at 7.30pm.
The group will perform a piece of work
choreographed by the Associates Contemporary teacher, Tony
Louis, which they have been working on for the past 5 weeks.
NBT’s Classical Training Administrator,
Hannah Kirkpatrick, commented:
“Youth Dance England is a great opportunity for our
students to meet other people who are equally as enthusiastic
about dance as they are! It’s also a fantastic chance
for them to experience different dance forms and to work as
a part of a team during the workshops - It should be a great
day for all involved”
Following the Regional Platform, 3
groups will be selected to go into the National final, which
also takes place at NSCD. During the final, the groups will
take part in a whole week of workshops on different styles
of dance and choreography, which culminates in a final performance.
